Top 10 Crazy Christmas Songs (with a Canadian bent)

Location: Trenanthia Cottage located in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada (90 min north of Toronto)
Friends laughing hard
When I’m with family, I love to listen to charming Christmas tunes of yesteryear or the more typical renditions of festive favourites by popular musicians.  But when I’m with my friends, nothing beats a bit of Christmas comedy.

Want to magically unite your friends in a chorus of merry sing-a-long up at the cottage this year?  Pull out a couple of these top 10 crazy (and loved) christmas songs of every year...

#10 Twas the Night After Christmas by Jeff Foxworthy

Really not one for the children, this little tale of Christmas joy is a particular favourite for reciting in the tradition of an Irish folk song - with one hand in the air and the other firmly wrapped round a beer.

#9 I’m a Little Christmas Cracker by London Gay Men’s Choir

This one is actually just a sweet little ditty, but it's really the Thriller-inspired choreography from the choir that lands it in our top 10 crazy christmas songs.  Must have been great fun to be at that concert!

#8 I Farted on Santa’s Lap (Now Christmas is Gonna Stink for Me) by The Little Stinkers

Okay, this one is actually good fun with the kids too!

#7 I Want An Alien For Christmas by Fountains Of Wayne

As you do.

#6 The Chanukah (Hanukkah) Song by Adam Sandler

Straight out of Saturday Night Live, you can’t beat a song that refers to both Canadian William Shatner and Muskoka regular, Goldie Hawn.

#5 The Christmas Tree's on Fire by Holly Golightly

Just try to get this one out of yer head, I dare ya!  You'll all be singing it for the rest of the holidays.

#4 Walking Round in Women’s Underwear by Bob Rivers

Personally, I love walking round in womens' underwear.  Try mixing this one with a "role swap" game -- boys dress & act as the girls, girls dress & act as the boys.  Throw in some drinks and a bit of outdoor hot tub and you have a memory for life!  (We don't guarantee it's a positive memory, mind you ;)

#3 12 Days of Christmas by Bob and Doug McKenzie

I suppose there's a chance there are some folks out there who don't know who Bob and Doug McKenzie are and have never heard of the Great White North.  But I doubt it!  Get some tuque-time...

#2 Mother Nature Holiday Rap by gunnarolla and Julia Bentley

A pair of hilarious Canadians taking a catchy pot shot at Mother Nature herself.   Once again, not for the youngsters!  (If you love them, check out their making of the video video.)

#1 Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer by the Irish Rovers

Besides a catchy hummer for all the friends, this one's also a favourite of our whole family, especially Grandma!

What are your favourite festive tunes to hum with friends?

Try to say that fast five times.  Then let us know...
